Sterling Silver (MR 1)12"x16
Large-flowered. Thirty or so years ago Mrs Gladys Fisher had quite a reputation for raising roses of unusual colors. 'Sterling Silver', a sensation when it came out in 1957, is the best known today. Many people think it is still the most exquisite of any mauve rose, but the plant is not even moderately vigorous. If you fall for its pale and luminous color and sweet perfume, be prepared to coddle it. It has been the parent of most of the more recent mauves. Do not confuse it with 'Sterling', a bright pink Large-flowered Rose of 1933, rarely seen now. Foliage is dull leaden green and matt.

Nymphenburg (WR 4-5-6)24"x30"
The palace and the gardens of the Nymphenburg just on the outskirts of Munich are a German tourist attraction. The rose is worthy of the name. Its fat buds open to mid-sized flowers, of beautifully ruffed shape, with a delicious fragrance, and in exquisite shades of salmon, peach and gold. They are borne all season in large and small clusters. The shrub is large, but open and lax in habit. Many of its admirers prefer to see it trained as a pillar rose. Foliage is olive-green, glossy and lightly rugose. It was introduced by Wilhelm Kordes in 1954. 'Sangerhausen' x 'Sunmist'. Repeat flowering Fragrant.
